I just finished up a cute doodle for Animecat's character "River" and her spiky friend. This is actually a nod back to my honeymoon. Michael and I went to an outdoor farmer's market, and ended up buying a huge pineapple. We didn't go back to the hotel for a while, so I ended up carrying my own spiky friend all over downtown Kona. *grins*

This is one of my first cute or chibi style pieces.
Wedding!

I have been putting this off, hoping that if I didn't write about the wedding it would just keep going. After being home for about a week, and doing a lot of costume work, life is beginning to fall back into a normal pace.

So it is time to write.

I cannot capture how beautiful the wedding was with mere words. I'm going to let the photos do most of the talking. Kevin and his partner Vanessa did such an amazing job with our photos. I am so thrilled with the shots. We ended up with 977 photos total! These are a few of the highlights. (Many more under the link at the bottom of the post).

http://www.kzphoto.org <--- More of his work...though when I checked the page earlier he was rebuilding and reorganizing, so it may look a little strange at the moment.

The day started out drizzly to the point of it raining lightly on us as we walked through the trees. It was cool, but not cold. (Or perhaps I was wearing enough layers to not worry about the weather...my bride's maids seemed to be freezing! ...or I may have just been floating.)

The ceremony was long enough to feel like it was something special, but short enough to keep everyone's interest. Our Rabbi is a great speaker, and he made a really lovely address. (I managed not to cry....I'm so pleased with myself!)

The reception was stunningly beautiful. I don't know how else to describe it. I mean look, how cool is our head table?:

My Aunt Barb did an amazing job with the decorations. Everything was so beautiful!

The food was wonderful (Santa Cruz folks, if you ever need a caterer, check out Barbara and Co).

The cake was simple, elegant, beautiful, and super tasty! Margaret's French Bakery did a wonderful job:

I had a lovely first dance with my Dad, and Michael's Dad cut in about halfway through and I danced with him as well. It was really sweet.

There were toasts, they were beautiful. I did cry.

Later in the afternoon we (the bridal party) went outside and played around the property; being mobsters in front of the London Taxi, and taking over the small scale train:

One of the highlights was seeing so many of my friends from so many fascets of my life all together in one place and interacting. They all seemed to get along well, and I think everyone had a really good time. (I know I did!)

This is a slightly disjointed and highly abbreviated view of it all, but enough for you guys to get the feel of how amazing it all was. Yes, amazing. I keep using the word, though it really isn't adequate.

I cannot thank the Beck family enough for being such generous and classy hosts, and for providing us with such a perfect place for a wedding. Thanks to my family for all of their support and encouragement throughout the entire adventure, and thanks to my friends who attended and shared this wonder day with us.

The full photo set can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/feastofdreams/tags/kevinzamani/

They are, in fact, several sizes too large for my little girly feet.)

They are my "con shoe" style. They are built around a pair of Converse shoes, and have a zipper up the back. That way you can slip the shoe in and out. Wearing your favorite broken in shoes and having nice footpaws? Awesome. Not having to sacrifice the shoes to the foot paws? Even better.

More shots can be found here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/feastofdreams/tags/naka/

Enjoy!

~Shadow

Hopefully the commissioner will supply some photos of it being worn.

This was quite an experience. I've never before tried to "fur" anything in stretch velvet. Let me tell you, it is not a friendly material with which to work. I feel that I learned a lot, and am fairly pleased with the results. My favorite piece of this costume is the little hair tuft that I added to the head. The hair tuft is fake hair that I blended to color match and laid in by hand (similar process to my Cats wigs).

This costume includes a custom footed unitard, a velvet skinned "use you own eyes" coldfoam mask (complete with working jaw), a yarn tail, and custom made velvet gloves. As I said before, this was a learning experience, and I'm very glad to have had this opportunity.

More photos can be found here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/feastofdreams/tags/smash/

Enjoy!

~Shadow

Hey all,

Since I have had several people contact me over the past few days, I thought I'd just go head and make a general commissions announcement.

I am currently not accepting any more Halloween deadline commissions. I am taking many less this time around than I have in the past as most of October will be getting ready for my wedding, the wedding, and the subsequent honeymoon. I have about one week of solid time to work for October, and it's already filled.

My next available commission slot is late November/early December. Once I fill projects to December 15th, I'm going to be closing for the rest of the year. So if you want a project from me this year (in time for Christmas or FC), you'll need to contact me soon.

Thanks!

~Katie
